Generic Azelex is a cream, which is intended for the treatment of mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris. It has bacteriostatic activity against Propionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus epidermidis and reduces the production of fatty acids, which are promoting the appearance of acne. Generic Azelex has an anti-acne and depigmentary effect. The manufacturer is Micro Labs Ltd.
The active ingredient is Azelaic Acid 20%, which reduces the fraction of free fatty acids in the skin surface lipids. Generic Azelex is available in a tube form 20% 15g.
The cream should be applied to previously cleaned (with water or cosmetic product) and dry skin. Do not forget to wash your hands before applying. This cream is applied in thin layer to the affected areas of skin 2 times a day (morning and evening) and gently rubbed in. Clinical improvement occurs on average after 2-4 weeks of treatment. If you want to have best results use the drug for several months.
Generic Azelex doesn’t interact with other medicines, but do not use any other skin products with similar action without consulting your doctor.

During an early treatment may occur local irritative effect, burning, flushing, skin peeling, itching, erythema, which usually stop during treatment. There are possible allergic reactions of the skin. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes of the nose, lips and mouth. In case of severe skin irritation, which can occur in the first week of treatment, cream can be used 1 time a day; also you can stop using the drug for a short term. After the disappearance of the irritation symptoms one should resume regular use of the drug in the recommended dose.
Possible side effects, which may occur: severe burning, allergic reactions (itching, swelling of the lips, face, or tongue), lightening of the treated areas. If you noticed one of these effects, visit a doctor. Skin peeling, mild burning, dry skin and reddening do not require medical attention.
